It is therefore a vital importance to have a full knowledge and understanding of the ISM Code and the Company Safety Management (SMS). Moreover, possessing good background safety first course, like first aid, personal survival technique, fire fighting and prevention, lifeboat handling, leadership and behavioral development crucial.

It is also very important for everyone to be able to familiarize with matters related to Ship Security. This is to be able to be more vigilant and responsible on board to avoid possible unfortunate events through learning. The ISP Code and the Security measures to be implemented in your ship security plan.

Familiarity with Port states control inspection is likewise essential in order to be prepared and secured that any deficiencies found within the ship are rectified before sailing.
